Cali, Ring-tailed Coatimundi
Small Mammals
In June of 2022, Black Pine was alerted to 4 South American Coatimundis in Massachusetts in need of permanent refuge at an accredited animal sanctuary. Authorities discovered them with several other exotic animals in back of a parked U-Haul. Cali and the other Coatis were rescued along with the other animals and temporarily placed with the Massachusetts Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA). Since owning a Coati in MA is illegal, they were not put up for adoption to the public. Cali and the three other Coatis were likely acquired to breed to supply inventory for the exotic pet trade.
What does Cali eat? Produce Mix, Protein, Commerical Biscuits
What does Cali like to do for fun? These guys mostly enjoy snuggling in their thick blankets, anything dietary (Mostly protein related) and squeaky sound enrichment. We love when we hear their squeaky toys going from outside primate house!
